Gary Kauffman, Esq

Gary Kauffman focuses his law practice on real estate & business law. Mr. Kauffman's real estate practice encompasses both residential and commercial property matters, including title insurance, closings, short sales, escrow services, purchase agreements, loans and mortgages, and condominiums. Mr. Kauffman's business & corporate practice includes contract drafting and negotiation (e.g., purchase contracts, partnership agreements, operating agreements, employment agreements, financing documents), entity formation (corporations, LLCs, etc.), as well as escrow and closing services. Mr. Kauffman also assists foreign clients seeking to qualify for an E-2 Visa and desiring to purchase a business. The services Mr. Kauffman provides includes drafting and negotiating the asset purchase agreement, holding escrow funds, assisting with due diligence matters (e.g., reviewing the seller's lease agreement; researching liens against equipment being purchased), preparing conveyance documentation, and ultimately, conducting the actual closing.

Gary Kauffman grew up in Philadelphia, where he attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School. At Penn, he served as an editor of the Law Review, where he wrote scholarship, including an article that was published in a law journal at Columbia University Law School. Mr. Kauffman began his legal career in New York City, with the international law firms Proskauer Rose Goetz & Mendelsohn, and Loeb & Loeb. He eventually started his own law firm, where he represented various motion pictures, including Frozen River (2008, Sony Classics; nominated for two Academy Awards®); and Flirting With Disaster (1996, Miramax Films; starring Ben Stiller and Patricia Arquette).

Gary Kauffman moved to Sarasota, Florida in 2003 where he was admitted to The Florida Bar. Mr. Kauffman joined Band Weintraub in 2010, where he continues to focus on real estate and business transactions.
